The Age of the Gutters: How long has it been since your gutters had been replaced or updated? Do your gutters have loose spikes (nails) sticking out? This is a sign of an old securing method called "Spike and Ferrel" which means your gutters are over 25 years old. The newer Hidden Hanger securing method replaced the spikes in the 90's.

Water Problems: Are you currently experiencing water in your home's basement or cracks in your foundation? Most basement professionals look to the gutters before entering the basement as a faulty gutter system is the leading cause of water in the basement or foundation problems. Are there signs of what looks like a waterfall from the water flowing over your gutters? This could be a result of an undersized gutter system or a clogged gutter system.
